Last week, the HiLASE Centre welcomed dozens of experts on lasers and laser safety as part of the annual LSO Meetup. The morning programme focused on the safety of lasers in open space, including the prevention of laser attacks on aircraft and the safety aspects of automotive LiDAR systems. Other presentations covered laser welding and cleaning safety. There was also a talk on nanoparticles and their effect on human health by toxicologist and molecular biologist Pavel Rössner, head of the Department of Toxicology and Molecular Epidemiology.
