PhD student Tereza Červená has won second place in the “Make Our Planet Great Again Prize 2023” competition organised by the French Embassy in the Czech Republic with the support of the French commercial bank BNP Paribas. The competition aims to reward the best research work in all areas of environmental and climate research.

As a major player in the fight against climate change and a guarantor of the spirit of the Paris Agreement, France also offers a new MOPGA fellowship programme for students to strengthen the science of climate change research. The “Make Our Planet Great Again” award is an initiative of President Emmanuel Macron and has been awarded since 2017.

The prize, worth 50,000 CZK, was awarded to Tereza for the project entitled “Real Time Air-Liquid Exposure: How to effectively study toxic effects of air pollutants and nanoparticles“. The project focuses on research using a complex 3D model of human cells, which presents a realistic exposure setup that allows particulate and gaseous pollutants to interact with cells.
The award also includes a one-month fellowship in France at a research institution of your choice.

We congratulate Tereza and wish her a lovely and successful internship in France.
