For ten years, Forbes magazine has presented thirty Czechs who are changing the world around them. Getting into the “30 Under 30” list is the secret dream of every passionate Czech man or woman who hasn’t crossed 30 yet. Only extraordinary people in their field and who have had an exceptionally successful year can succeed. In deciding on the final 30, Forbes consults with experts in the field and considers a number of factors as part of its editorial board. It is absolutely crucial that each of the nominees must be an inspiration to others, not only professionally but also personally.

It’s great that Forbes also gives space to scientists, who are often forgotten in society. Thus, in this year’s ranking, in addition to successful young business people, influencers, doctors, athletes and others, you will also find our PhD student Kateřina Štěpánková from the Department of Neuroregeneration, who is one of the main authors of the recently mediated and successful study in which our scientists achieved the regeneration of nerve cell axons in the injured part of the spinal cord, and thus restored sensitivity in laboratory animals with spinal cord injury.

We congratulate Katka on this outstanding scientific achievement and her placement in the Forbes “30 Under 30 list” (open in a new window, available only in Czech), which proves that being a successful scientist is not a matter of age and experience from prestigious foreign institutions but mainly a matter of motivation, teamwork and talent.
