The Forest Act amendment – a missed opportunity or a path in the right direction?
Jan Topinka, Chairman of the Commission for the Environment of the CAS, cordially invites you to a professional seminar devoted to the novelty of the Forest Act.
Central European forests are currently facing many appeals to which the existing Czech legislation has not responded well. It is not only climate change that is exacerbating the problems of traditional monocultures but also other demands on forests. Biodiversity protection, sustainable timber production, and carbon storage are now critical societal needs that forests must fulfill.
How does the amendment to the Forest Act, which is likely to be debated in Parliament this autumn, deal with these challenges? Are scientific knowledge and societal needs really well reflected in the amendment? How do scientists and forest professionals view them?
Please note that the seminar will be held in Czech. More information can be found in the invitation below.
