🇨🇿 Biomedicínským výzkumem k efektivní diagnostice a léčbě
🇬🇧 Biomedical research towards effective diagnosis and treatment

Koncem března zavítala 👩‍🔬 Barbora Voltrová mezi ž

Koncem března zavítala 👩‍🔬 Barbora Voltrová mezi žáky a žákyně 2. třídy na @vsenorskaskola, kde v rámci programu „Poznáváme profese“ představila práci vědkyně. Tento program dětem umožňuje poznávat různá povolání očima rodičů a díky tomu mohly tentokrát nahlédnout i do světa moderního biomedicínského výzkumu. 🔬

Bára pracuje na Odd. tkáňového inženýrství, kde se věnuje výzkumu regenerace tkání. 🦴 Dětem přiblížila, jak vědci a vědkyně hledají způsoby, jak podpořit hojení kůže 🩹 nebo jak napomoci obnově kostí a chrupavek postižených například degenerativními změnami. I tyto složité principy dokázala vysvětlit jednoduše a srozumitelně. 👍

Setkání se neslo ve velmi živé a interaktivní atmosféře. 🤩 Děti se aktivně ptaly, sdílely své nápady a s nadšením objevovaly, jak může věda pomáhat lidem v každodenním životě. Kromě prezentace a ukázky mikroskopických snímků si mohly vyzkoušet i základní laboratorní metody. 🧪

Děkujeme Báře za čas a energii, které věnovala této návštěvě, i za to, že dětem přiblížila svět vědy. ❤️ Kdo ví, možná mezi nimi sedí i budoucí vědec nebo vědkyně. 😉

At the end of March, 👩‍🔬 Barbora Voltrová visited second-graders at Josef Kubálek Elementary School in Všenory @vsenorskaskola, where she introduced her work as a scientist as part of the “Discovering Professions” programme. The initiative gives children a chance to explore different careers through their parents' experiences, offering them a glimpse into modern biomedical research. 🔬

Barbora works in the Dept. of Tissue Engineering, focusing on tissue regeneration. 🦴 She explained how scientists are developing new ways to support skin healing 🩹 and to regenerate bones and cartilage affected by degenerative conditions. Even these complex ideas were presented in a clear, accessible, and engaging way. 👍

The meeting unfolded in a lively and interactive atmosphere. 🤩 The children eagerly asked questions, shared their own ideas, and discovered how science can improve everyday life. Alongside the presentation and microscopic images, they also had the opportunity to try basic laboratory techniques. 🧪

We thank Barbora for the time and energy she dedicated to this visit. ❤️

Po Velikonočním pondělí už možná nechcete o vajíčkách ani slyšet… 🐣 Ale tahle jsou přece jen trochu jiná. 😉

Snímek zachycuje oocyty s prokazatelným reprodukčním potenciálem. U některých z nich už lze pozorovat raná stadia embryonálního vývoje, a to ve speciálně vyvíjeném kultivačním médiu z dílny našeho 👉 Oddělení plasticity buněčného jádra.

Čím je tento obrázek jedinečný? Ukazuje naši snahu citlivě ovlivnit buněčné prostředí a podpořit procesy klíčové pro vývoj i budoucí léčebné přístupy v reprodukční medicíně. 🔬

After Easter Monday, you might not want to hear about eggs anymore… 🐣 But these ones are a little different. 😉

The image shows oocytes with proven reproductive potential. In some of them, the early stages of embryonic development can already be observed, specifically in a special culture medium developed by our 👉 Department of Cell Nucleus Plasticity.

Why is this image unique? It demonstrates our efforts to sensitively influence the cellular environment and support key developmental processes that underpin future therapeutic approaches in reproductive medicine. 🔬

Amyotrofická laterální skleróza (ALS) nepostihuje jen běžnou populaci, ale i vrcholové sportovce. Příběhy známých osobností připomínají, jak nevyzpytatelná a krutá tato nemoc je. Často přichází v produktivním věku a postupně bere tělu schopnost pohybu. 🏃‍♂️

Následující článek propojuje silné lidské osudy s odborným komentářem genetičky 👩‍🔬 Lenky Šlachtové, vedoucí 👉 Odělení neurogenetiky ÚEM AV ČR, která vysvětluje současné poznatky i limity výzkumu. 🔬

„ALS sice postihuje častěji sportovce, sport obecně ale rizikovým faktorem není. Jedná se pouze o některé typy vrcholového sportu nebo profesí s extrémní zátěží, a to zejména ty, u kterých je kombinace opakovaných nárazů v oblasti hlavy a krku, extrémního tréninku a dalších faktorů,“ vysvětluje pro @denik.cz Lenka Šlachtová, která zároveň dodává, že se jedná o multifaktoriální onemocnění, takže jde o souhrn řady faktorů, jako jsou oxidační stres, nedostatečná regenerace apod. 🧬

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) affects not only the general population but also elite athletes. The stories of famous personalities who suffer from it serve as a reminder of just how unpredictable and cruel this disease is. It often strikes during one’s prime and gradually robs the body of its ability to move. 🏃‍♂️

The following article combines strong personal stories with expert commentary by geneticist 👩‍🔬 Lenka Šlachtová, head of the new 👉 Department of Neurogenetics at the IEM CAS, who explains current findings and the limits of research. 🔬

“While ALS does affect athletes more frequently, sports in general are not a risk factor. Only certain types of high-performance sports or professions involving extreme physical strain, particularly those involving a combination of repeated impacts to the head and neck, extreme training, and other factors,” explains Lenka Šlachtová for @denik.cz, who also adds that it is multifactorial, meaning it involves a combination of factors such as oxidative stress and insufficient recovery, among others.
