What is hidden behind the doors of scientific laboratories? How are new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and knowledge about human health and disease born? Visitors to the Open Door Day at the IEM CAS, which was part of the Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences (open in a new window), came to find out last Friday.

It was the largest mass event in the institute’s history, held in the spirit of celebrating 50 years since its founding.

Visitors had the opportunity to glimpse into the world of modern biomedicine:

  • They took part in guided tours of our laboratories,
  • listened to inspiring expert lectures presenting the latest results of our research,
  • met scientists who explained how new knowledge with the potential to affect the lives of millions of people is born.

Over half a century of its existence, the IEM CAS has become one of the leading scientific institutions in the Czech Republic and worldwide. We collaborate with prestigious universities, hospitals, and research centres around the world, and the Open House was a great opportunity to show how basic research is transformed into knowledge that can contribute to a healthier future for us all.

We would like to thank all visitors for their interest in our work and the members of the organising team for their excellent preparation and execution of the entire event. You were great!
