🇨🇿 Biomedicínským výzkumem k efektivní diagnostice a léčbě
🇬🇧 Biomedical research towards effective diagnosis and treatment

🔬 Už za týden Vám představíme největší výzkumný pr 🔬 Už za týden Vám představíme největší výzkumný projekt v historii ÚEM AV ČR!

📅 V pátek 6. listopadu otevřeme naše laboratoře v rámci @tydenavcr. Letošní Den otevřených dveří Vás zavede do světa regenerativní medicíny, která otevírá nové možnosti léčby závažných onemocnění a poranění, u nichž jsou současné léčebné postupy velmi omezené.

🔍 Představíme Vám projekt OP JAK EXREGMED – Excelentní výzkum v regenerativní medicíně. Spolu s deseti partnerskými institucemi hledáme nové možnosti regenerace nervové tkáně, sítnice, kostí a chrupavek, vyvíjíme cévní náhrady i materiály pro hojení chronických ran. Propojujeme při tom výzkum kmenových buněk, buněčné a genové terapie s vývojem biomateriálů.

Projekt je financován z prostředků 🇪🇺 Evropské unie a Ministerstva školství, mládeže a tělovýchovy prostřednictvím @opjak_msmt.

🔬 In just one week, we’ll introduce you to the largest research project in the history of the IEM CAS!

📅 On Friday, 6 November, we’ll open our laboratories as part of the Week of the Czech Academy of Sciences festival @tydenavcr. This year’s Open Day will take you into the world of regenerative medicine, which offers new possibilities for treating serious diseases and injuries for which current treatment options remain very limited.

🔍 Discover EXREGMED – Excellence in Regenerative Medicine. With ten partner institutions, we explore ways to regenerate nerve tissue, the retina, bone and cartilage, and develop vascular grafts and materials for chronic wound healing, combining stem cell research, cell and gene therapies with biomaterial development.

The project is funded by the 🇪🇺 European Union and the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports through the Programme Johannes Amos Comenius @opjak_msmt.

Znečištěné ovzduší bylo klasifikováno jako lidský karcinogen.

💡 Did you know that…?

Outside air pollution has been classified as a confirmed human carcinogen.

In a new study by 👩‍🎓 Zuzana Šímová under 👨‍🔬 Pavel Rossner’s supervision, a 3D model of the human respiratory tract was placed outside to measure the real impact of air pollution on human health.

The results showed that city air affects cells most, even more than air in an industrial area. 🏭
The cells experienced stress and could not function properly.

Their research helps scientists better understand how the environment affects our health and develop more effective preventive measures. 🫁

Tyto poznatky mohou v budoucnu přispět k účinnější prevenci i léčbě respiračních onemocnění. 🫁

🌬️ Same air, different response. How does air pollution affect cells in our airways?

A team from the Department of Toxicology and Molecular Epidemiology investigated how airway cells from healthy donors and asthma patients respond to air pollution using a three-dimensional human airway model at three locations. 🔬

The study, led by our PhD student 👩‍🎓 Zuzana Šímová as first author, helps shed light on what happens inside cells when they are exposed to air pollution. These findings could help develop more effective prevention and treatment strategies for respiratory diseases. 🫁
