2/2 🚴‍♂ Dnes slavíme Světový den jízdního kola! 🌍 Kolo není jen dopravní prostředek – je to symbol udržitelnosti, zdraví a svobody pohybu.

💡 Věděli jste, že pravidelná jízda na kole zlepšuje nejen fyzickou kondici, ale i duševní zdraví a snižuje uhlíkovou stopu?

I proto jsme se již popáté zapojili do květnové výzvy @dopracenakole a podpořili tuto skvělou iniciativu. 👍 Letos se zapojilo rekordních 55 z 219 zaměstnanců. Děkujeme vedení a Odborové organizaci AV ČR za podporu těchto aktivit a úhradu účastnického poplatku. ❤️

Na tradičním závěrečném setkání účastníků nechyběla dobrá nálada ani ocenění pro ty nejlepší. 🚴‍♀🏅 Gratulujeme vítězům v kategoriích Vzdálenost, Pravidelnost a Nejlepší tým! Výherci si odnesli dárkové poukazy do @decathloncz a vítězný tým si pochutnal na sladké odměně z @ovocnysvetozor. 🍰

Děkujeme všem, kdo jste šli do toho s námi a ukázali, že jezdit do práce na kole má smysl! 💚🚲

🚴‍♂ Today, we celebrate World Bicycle Day! 🌍 A bicycle is not just a mode of transport – it is a symbol of sustainability, health and freedom of movement.

💡 Did you know that regular cycling improves your physical condition and mental health and reduces your carbon footprint?

That is why we have participated in the May Bike to Work challenge @dopracenakole for the fifth time and supported this great initiative. 👍 This year, a record 55 out of 219 employees took part. We would like to thank the management and the Union Organisation of the IEM CAS for supporting these activities and covering the registration fee. ❤️

The traditional final meeting of participating employees was filled with good cheer and awards for the best performers. 🚴‍♀🏅 Congratulations to the winners. 👏

Thank you to everyone who joined us and showed that cycling to work makes sense! 💚

Proč kradou nádorové buňky mozku mitochondrie?

Proč kradou nádorové buňky mozku mitochondrie?🤔

Společný výzkum @ibt_cas a ÚEM AV ČR pod vedením 👨‍🔬 prof. Jiřího Neužila, financovaný Grantovou agenturou České republiky (GAČR), přinesl nový pohled na metabolismus glioblastomů. Nedávno publikovaná studie v prestižním časopise 📑 Oncogene popisuje horizontální přenos mitochondrií mezi buňkami v myším modelu glioblastomu a odhaluje, proč tyto agresivní nádorové buňky potřebují funkční (respirující) mitochondrie k přežití a růstu.

Why do brain cancer cells steal mitochondria? 🤔

A joint research by the Institute of Biotechnology of the CAS and the IEM CAS, led by 👨‍🔬 Prof. Jiří Neužil and funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR), has provided new insights into the metabolism of glioblastomas. A new study recently published in the prestigious journal 📑 Oncogene describes the horizontal transfer of mitochondria between cells in mouse model of glioblastoma and reveals why these aggressive cancer cells require mitochondria with functional respiration to survive and grow.

Mikroglie jsou specializované buňky centrální nervové soustavy, které plní hlavně imunitní a podpůrné funkce. Jsou součástí gliových buněk, tzv. neuroglií. Na rozdíl od ostatních gliových buněk (jako jsou astrocyty a oligodendrocyty), které pocházejí z nervové tkáně, mikroglie mají původ v buňkách imunitního systému.

Microglia are specialised cells of the central nervous system that mainly perform immune and support functions. They are part of glial cells called neuroglia. Unlike other glial cells (such as astrocytes and oligodendrocytes), which originate from nervous tissue, microglia develop from immune system cells.
