BIOCEV DAYS 2025 (October 20–22), a traditional conference connecting scientific communities and presenting the latest trends in biomedicine, is currently taking place at the BIOCEV centre (open in a new window).
The second day of the conference, dedicated to innovations in biomaterials and tissue engineering, was opened by keynote speaker Prof. Aleksandr Ovsianikov from the Technical University of Vienna. In his introductory lecture “From High Resolution 3D Printing to High Definition Bioprinting using Femtosecond Lasers,” he presented the latest advances in bioprinting and laser technologies for creating living tissue structures.
He was followed by scientists from the IEM CAS, who presented their latest results in the field of regenerative medicine:
- Yuriy Petrenko presented research results focused on the metabolic reprogramming of multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells and their impact on regenerative medicine.
- Vojtěch Šprincl then discussed the use of extracellular vesicles as a new tool for regenerating the blood-brain barrier.
- Jarmila Havelková presented a project developed in collaboration with the Institute of Physiology of the CAS (open in a new window) , focused on the essential role of 3D models in modern preclinical testing.
All three contributions underlined the key role of the IEM CAS in the field of cell therapies, biomaterials, and modern methods of preclinical research.
The BIOCEV DAYS 2025 conference concludes its programme this afternoon, which also includes a poster section and expert discussion.
