The magazine Téma (Theme) published an interesting interview with Oliver Profant, our neuroscientist and Chief Medical Officer of the ENT clinic at the University Hospital of Královské Vinohrady and the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University.

More than one billion people in the world suffer from hearing problems. It is the third most common chronic disease in the elderly. In the Czech Republic, it affects about 10% of the population. If you’re over 18, you should be aware too. Because with each passing year, your ears age and lose their functionality. The presumed tipping point starts around age 65, when you probably start to notice the deterioration of one of our two most important senses. In this interview, Assoc. Prof. Profant explains what damages our hearing the most, why a person who hears poorly usually dominates the conversation, and why some people misunderstand even when they hear well.
