The IEM CAS, the first and so far the only institution in the Czech Republic, recently launched another unique device Visium CytAssist by 10x Genomics (open in a new window). Thus, our portfolio of shared technologies has significantly expanded not only in the field of Single-Cell but also in Spatial Transcriptomics.

The Visium CytAssist, a compact and user-friendly device, harnesses the power of advanced Visium HD technology (open in a new window). It’s designed to be compatible with FFPE tissue sections stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) or immunofluorescence (IF). The instrument streamlines the workflow for spatial transcriptomics, allowing for easy selection of the area to be analysed by accurately aligning these sections in the capture area of the slide. The Visium CytAssist workflow includes slicing, deparaffinisation, staining and imaging (H&E or IF) on a standard slide. After sample hybridisation, two standard slides and one Visium HD slide are used. The slides are placed in the CytAssist instrument so that hybridised samples from tissue sections can be transferred between the different types of slides.

This unique and advanced device was purchased within the EATRIS-CZ (open in a new window) infrastructure, which connects and enables collaboration between excellent national research institutions and hospitals. EATRIS-CZ helps to develop new knowledge and places the Czech Republic among nationally and internationally renowned centres of excellence in molecular and translational medicine.
